Speed Channel seems to be sinking slowly out of sight. The Dakar, Speed Channel's annual respite from cold winter nights of tractor pull reruns, aired on OLN this month. BBC's Top Gear, the best "car show" ever is now a Discovery Channel series with a US version due soon. Discovery will be running eight segments back-to-back (three of them twice so you can give the dog more than a commercial break to do his business without missing any good stuff) this Thursday starting at 7:00 PM et/pt. Possibly to generate interest in the new shows.
Maybe OLN and Discovery paid too much for the shows and Speed's decision to let them go was the right one. But that doesn't excuse some of their other foot-shooting. Today's "This Week on Speed" e-mail included this non-informative description for 2 Wheel Tuesday:
Greg returns for another new episode of racing highlights, interviews and insightful features. LEARN MORE>>
And the link leads to information on the January 10, 2006 show -- which appeared last month. Great way to attract an audience, Greg.
Thankfully, F1 (except San Marino, Spanish, Monaco and British) races will be back on Speed this year.
